No
Practice Tonight 6-3-10 due to BSHS graduation
ceremonies.
Some Highlights and News from the parents meeting:
-Starting next week (6-7) there will be morning practice
on M/W/F starting at 8 AM led by Coach Drew. Morning
practice is open to HS swimmers including rising
freshman. If there is a circumstance where morning
practice works better for you and your swimmer does not
fit the HS category, please discuss your individual
situations with Coach Victor and Drew and they will try
to accommodate the situation.
-Concession stand sign up sheets are now available for
you to sign up for item(s). The concession stand is our
biggest summer fundraiser and it cannot be successful
without your help and donations. You can sign up at
www.timetosignup.com/smscsharks. Please contact Barb
Brinton if you have any questions.
-SMSC will be having a Give Back Night at Chili's on
Monday June 28th. SMSC will receive 10% of all sales
that day when the attached flyer is presented to the
server. Please print out multiple copies and give them
to friends/neighbors and co-workers. This is a simple
way for the club to secure some additional funds to help
with the running of the club. Also, there will be no
practice that evening so we can maximize participation
from the team. Look forward to seeing you there on the
28th.
- We also discussed parent volunteers at meets and Lisa
Webber will again be our meet director and looking for
parents to help at all the swim meets. So please help
out when Lisa asks.
- We will be having another meeting in late June or
early July to discuss team gift, coaches gifts,
elections, and the end of season party. I will send out
that information once the date is set.
Meet Schedule
Our first meet is rapidly approaching and is next
Saturday 6-12 at Bobcat. Coach Drew will be posting a
sign up sheet at the pool by Monday for you to indicate
your availability for all the meets this season. As
mentioned at the meeting, it is important that you
indicate yes or no for each meet so that an accurate
lineup can be made. This helps the meets start on time
and run smoother.
Bobcat is located at
Northeastern High School
300 High Street Manchester, PA 17345. The pool is
located on the right side of the building if you are
looking at it from High Street. They have connected the
old Middle School to the high school so it is important
that you come in from the front or you will not be able
to get into the pool. SMSC will warm up at 8 AM and the
meet should start at 9 AM or just after. Directions are
below.
From the Harrisburg Area
(North): Take I-83 South to Exit 24 (Emigsville
Exit). Turn left at the traffic light at end of exit
ramp and proceed to second traffic light making a left
turn onto N. George Street (Rt. 181 North). Proceed
straight ahead to the 5th traffic light at the square in
Manchester and make a right turn onto Maple Street (HWY
921), go one block and make a left onto High Street.
Travel approximately 1/2 mile to the high school
I will send out information on Spring
Grove next week and do not forget the information on
invitationals is posted at the pool. If you have
questions about the invitationals, see Coach Drew.
May 24th, 2010
Welcome to SMSC summer season 2010. We are
looking forward to an enjoyable and successful season.
By virtue of our divisional title last summer, SMSC has moved up
to the AAA division for this season. We will be competing
against some bigger teams and it should provide for some
exciting meets this season. The meet schedule for the season is
attached to this email for your reference. We have 5 dual meets
this season along with 2 invitationals that we are participating
in as well as championship meets.(Divsionals/All Stars/Mid
Caps). Swimmers must participate in at least 3 of the 5 dual
meets to be eligible for divisionals and must qualify on time
for All Stars and MidCaps. I will be sending out additional
information on all meets as they approach to include warm up
times and directions.
The 2 invitationals are the WSY Cuda Classic at CV and Carlisle
Swim Club at CSC. Entries are due to me by 6-17 for WSY and
6-24 for Carlisle. Information including fees will be posted at
the pool this week.
We will be having our first parents' association meeting of the
season on Wed June 2nd at 6 PM in a classroom near the pool.
We would appreciate as many of you attending as possible. We
will be discussing concessions for home meets, meet volunteers,
fundraising, team party, team/coaches gifts, and most
importantly(at least to me) officer elections for next year.
The coaches will also come to address the parents as well.
The involvement of the parents is a big contributor to the
success of SMSC and we look forward to seeing many new parents
helping out this season.
