The summer fundraiser kicked off this week. We are selling Butter Braids please pick up an order form at practice or the meeting tomorrow.  Orders are due back on 5/29 and they will be delivered at practice 6/4. Payment is due before pick up.  Please make checks payable to SMSC.

The sign up sheet for the concession stand items is posted at the pool.  Please take a moment to sign up for an item or 2 so that we can have a successful concession stand at our home meets.  Any questions, please contact Barb Brinton.

 

According to Parks and Rec, we are at 49 officially signed up swimmers.  There are a handful of you yet to sign up.  Please take a moment this week to do so.  I need to get the league roster prepared and submitted before our first meet.

 

The sign up sheet for the first meet should be posted tonight please indicate if your swimmer(s) will be attending. It is important for the coaches to know so they can make an accurate lineup.  If your name is missing, please add it at the bottom.

Just as a reminder, if you have not yet signed up with Parks and Rec please do so ASAP so I can get the official roster together for the league and you do not miss eligibility for any meets.  I also need the final roster so I can post the sign up sheet for the meets.

There will be no practice on May 23rd and 25th due to Memorial Day holiday and none on June 5th due to graduation ceremonies.

There will be a SMSC Parents meeting on Wed May 21st at 6:15 PM.  I will post the location at the pool.  I look forward to seeing everyone there as we will be looking for committee chairperons for several important committees and will be kicking off our summer fundraiser.

Our summer fundraiser will be selling Butter Braids.  I will have the order forms to distribute at practice starting today or Monday.  They are $10 each and I plan to have samples at the meeting on Wed for those of you that have not tried them.  As an added incentive, for every 10 units you sell you will receive a free one.

The SMSC end of season team party will be next Sunday March 2nd from 12:30 to 4 PM at the high school pool and gymnasium.  We will start the party at 12:30 with a short awards ceremony to recognize our All Stars participants and record breakers along with distribution of team gifts and a word from the coaches.

 

We will have plenty of food and fun for everyone for the remainder of the afternoon. We look forward to seeing everyone there to help celebrate our championship winter season and look forward to seeing many of you help us defend our title in the upcoming summer season as well

We have the SMSC night at Red Robin coming up on March 17th, all swimmers should have received 2 coupons in their ribbon folders. Feel free to make copies and distribute as many as you like.  I will have some additional coupons at the team party if you need them.

Remember we are trying a new traffic pattern to get pool access.  Please use the entrance in the alcove along the front of the building and enter the pool at the deep end.  SMSC asked to try this to help with parking and locker room access.  We had gotten feedback that there were people in the locker rooms during practice not associated with SMSC and entering the pool this way will allow us to keep the locker rooms locked. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding with this new arrangement.

Starting Monday Jan 21st, we are going to try a new traffic pattern for getting in and out of the pool in an effort to relieve some of the congestion that has been occurring.  SMSC parents and swimmers will now use the parking along the front of the high school and enter the building through the door in the alcove on the front of the building.  We will enter the pool using the door near the deep end of the pool.  This will allow us to avoid all the congestion near the concession stand and home game entrances and should allow for more parking.

We look forward to seeing you this week to kick off the Summer Season. Here are a few highlights:

• Practice this week will be on MONDAY, TUESDAY, and WEDNESDAY only and it runs from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Due to scheduling issues with the high school, we will not have practice on Thursday or Friday (May 19th or 20th).
  
  Looking ahead just a bit, we will not have practice on May 24th or 30th.
  
  If you can't attend practice this week due to other activities or commitments, please email Sandy
   
• During the first week of practice, the coaches will be evaluating swimmers and developing the practice groups. As you know, that is quite an undertaking. We ask for your patience as we get organized and get the season underway.
  
  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
   
• If you have not yet registered, please do so by calling the Parks and Rec Office at 258-4441. Payment can be made over the phone with a credit card. Your phone preregistration will eliminate paperwork for us on the pool deck this week.
  
  If you have pre-registered, you can immediately head to the pool deck tomorrow night and await further instruction from the Coaches.
  
  However, please make sure you stop by our table to pick up copies of the schedule, contact list, etc. We will also have suits to sell, as well as caps, goggles, chamois, etc.

• Practice starts on Monday, May 16, 2005 from 6-8 PM
• The easiest way to register is to call South Middleton Parks and Recreation at 258-4441 and pay over-the-phone with a credit card.  Pre-registration helps eliminate the long lines the first week of practice.
• Please be sure to pick up your packet of info which will include contact info, meet schedule, etc. during practice week.
• During the first practice week, we will have suits available for purchase, along with the usual inventory of caps, goggles, chamois, etc.
